Salem The Cat
Salem’s short life has not been a fairy tale. Salem’s mom was abandoned and gave birth to Salem and his siblings in a California backyard. They were found in poor health, struggling to survive. The person who found them took them in and helped to nurse the kittens and take care of the mama. When the kittens were old enough, she searched for homes. Salem now lives with a loving family who has experience with cats.
One day, Salem started to show signs of an eye infection. His new owners took him to the veterinarian right away. He was treated with an anti-inflammatory and eye serum. The owners followed directions, but things seemed to be getting worse. They took him back to the vet for a new medication, but by the next day, his eye had ruptured and was bleeding. The eye needed to be removed immediately to save Salem’s life.
Most veterinary hospitals would not have performed this surgery until they had a deposit, but this California hospital did not put Salem or his family through that pain. We are so thankful that not a second was wasted.
Like so many others, this family struggles with an unsure on-and-off work situation, due to the pandemic. They have two daughters, and one needs constant care for a medical condition. They were not approved for care credit. Without help, they may never be able to pay off this debt, which will negatively affect Salem’s access to ongoing routine care.
Please help today, with whatever donation you can, so that this family can concentrate on Salem’s health and healing.
